The standard TRNSYS library that comes with the purchase of the program includes many of the components commonly found in thermal energy systems, as
well as component routines to handle input of weather data or other time-dependent forcing functions and output of simulation results. Since new
technologies are common in today's energy market, care has been taken to make it as easy as possible for users to add their own components to the
TRNSYS package. First, components are assigned a number. Because the TRNSYS simulation engine automatically calls all possible component numbers, newly added components will be called as well without the user having to determine the correct spot to place the call. In contrast, EnergyPlus users wishing to add a new components to that program must not only program the component, but must also modify the EnergyPlus solver to call their component. Second, all TRNSYS components are formulated using the same structure. This means that users wishing to write new components have direct access to a wealth of templates and examples simply by referring to the standard TRNSYS component library. |

In addition to the standard components listed above, many extensive, well documented libraries of components exist either for purchase or for free
download. You can learn more about some of the most widely available libraries by clicking on the Non Standard Component Libraries Link in the
